Collaboration is the foundation of all Kieppi’s activities. We co-operate with, for example, the Geological Survey of Finland, the Finnish Museum of Natural History and local operators, experts and enthusiasts. The local artists bring an important dimension to the delicate nature experience.

The Hazel Grouse of The Fable Forest

5.6.–8.9.2024

Jani Ylikangas

“As a wildlife photographer, I try to capture the atmosphere, the sensations and the air of mystery that old spruce forests hold. I try to move freely among the wildlife as I capture their life and habitat, staying true to my photography style. Usually, I try to get to know the subjects in advance, as individuals, and get the shot once I’ve established the trust of and a strong connection with the subject.”

The Hazel Grouses of the Fable Forest exhibition is a trip to the dark spruce forest where the shy Hazel Grouse lives. The mysterious bird escapes delicately, but always only a short distance. The poetic texts written about the moments spent with Hazel Grouse support the photos in the exhibition.
