Guided tours of exhibitions and museums

We highly recommend booking a guided tour of our exhibitions! You can book a guided tour for a group or individuals in advance. The prices of the guided tours are mentioned in the descriptions (below). Book a guided tour no later than 10 days before your visit (khrenlundinmuseo.elamys@kokkola.fi).

Guided tours are organised during museum opening hours (Tue–Sun 11.30 am – 4 pm and Thu 11.30 am – 6 pm). Please note that holiday seasons may affect the availability of services.

Please arrive on time to ensure the tour can start as scheduled. We will not extend the allocated time due to late arrival.

Guided tours must be cancelled no later than 3 days before the booked date. For later cancellation, you will be charged the full price of the tour. We will also charge the full price, if the group fails to show up (aka the group is a no-show).

  • This guided tour explorers the life and family history of merchant Mr. Anders Roos, Jr. (1785 – 1842), who built the Roos House. Karl Herman Renlund (1850–1908) and his art collection from the Finnish Golden Age is another important theme of this tour.

    Karl Herman Renlund was born in Kokkola and a son of a seafarer. He progressed from being an errand boy of a hardware business to becoming a prominent businessman. During his lifetime Renlund gathered a sizeable fortune and was an influential person in society and art collector. His collection includes pieces from the Finnish Golden Age by artists such as Beda Stjernschantz, Magnus Enckell, Pekka Halonen and Viktor Westerholm.

  • This guided tour will take you to the museum destinations in the Museum Quarter.

    The Pedagogy was built as a school building in 1696, and it is presumably the oldest secular wooden building in an urban environment in Finland. The Lassander House was originally built on Kustaa Adolfin katu in 1748 and later moved to the Museum Quarter. The Lassander House gives insight to life in the 18th century in Kokkola.

  • This tour will take you to the home of Fredrik and Anna Drake, a historic house museum, located in the old part of Kokkola. The building and its contents were bequeathed to the City of Kokkola in 1997. Four generations of the artisan family Drake have lived in this house built in 1835.

    In the summer of 2024 this guided tour is available only in Finnish.

  • Guided tours available during Christamas time

    On this guided tour you will visit the home of Fredrik and Anna Drake, learn about how the Drake family celebrated Christmas and get to experience the old-time Christmas spirit. The home of Fredrik and Anna Drake is a historic house museum in the old par of Kokkola. The building and its contents were bequeathed to the City of Kokkola in 1997. Four generation of the artisan family Drake have lived in this house built in 1835. The house has been decorated with the Drake family’s Christmas decorations for this tour.

  • This guided tour starts at the Roos House (Pitkänsillankatu 39), where you will learn about the history of the house and Mr. Karl Herman Renlund (1850 -1908). From the Roos House the tour continues to the Pedagogy and the Lassander House in the Museum Quarter.
