Applying for a student position

The application period for new students for the next academic year 2025-2026 

We recommend that applicants (children born between 2017 and 2019) and their guardians attend Kokkola Art School visitor’s day on Saturday, April 12. Due to the limited number of seats, you need to sign up for the visitor’s day. Registration opens March 17, 2025.

Please note, that signing up for the visitor’s day is not an application to the Art School, an application must be completed separately.

The application period for new students for the early age studies of basic education in the arts and for the first year, is 12.4.-12.5.2025.  Early childhood studies can be pursued by children born in 2019 and for the first year of 2017 and 2018 for basic visual arts education. The child must live in Kokkola when the school begins. 

  • We recommend that applicants (children born between 2017 and 2019) and their guardians attend Kokkola Art School visitor’s day on Saturday, April 12. The child will attend a 60-minute lesson and in the meantime, guardians are welcome to attend an information event in the painting class at the Art School.

    The visitor’s day is held at Kokkola Art School, in the stone part of Taidetalo Renlund, the address is Kansakoulukatu 6b. Due to the limited number of seats, you need to sign up for the visitor’s day. You can sign up your child either to the group starting at 12.00 or at 13.30. Please, sign up for the visitor’s day through the link below no later than April 7.

    You can apply for a position in either a Finnish-speaking or Swedish-speaking group. If there are not enough Swedish-speaking applicants, a bilingual group is formed if necessary. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of student places, the places will be drawn. All applicants will be informed of the admission decision.  

    The student is welcome to participate in a fun and creative art hobby!

  • You can register for Kälviä’s art courses and other open art courses in August. Information on enrolment is provided on the website of the School of Fine Arts and in the study guide of Kokkolan seudun opisto (Kokkola Adult Education Center).
